Breaking the two-party monopoly

The power elite have us right where they want us — divided and irrelevant!

The major parties are big because they are inclusive: people with differing views work together toward a common goal.  For example, the Republican Party has the religious right, social conservatives, fiscal conservatives, NeoCons, etc.

The minor parties are small because they are exclusive, rejecting any whose views are not “pure” enough.  Unless they can get 100% agreement, they refuse to cooperate.  If we are to break the two-party monopoly, we must work together.

Here's a quiz.  Which political party has the following stances?

  • The proper role of the American military is to defend the United States, not to build an empire and police the world.  Bring the troops home.
  • Abolish the income tax.  Get rid of the I.R.S.  No national sales tax.  No flat-rate tax.  No VAT.
  • End the welfare state.
  • Get rid of Social Security.
  • End the Federal Reserve.  Return to sound money.
  • No deficit spending.  Pay off the national debt.
  • Vigorously protect civil liberties.  Repeal the “Patriot” Act.
  • No New World Order.  No NAFTA.  No GATT.  No NAU.  No WTO.
  • Property rights.
  • Right to privacy.
  • Religious freedom.
  • Decentralization.
  • Gun rights.
  • No draft.
  • End government involvement in health care.
  • No wage and price controls.
  • And on, and on, and on...

Let us resolve that this will be the last Presidential election in which the liberty candidates are excluded from the debates. Let us do everything in our power to unite the pro-liberty forces into a single party too great to ignore.

We do this not because it is easy, but because the future of mankind depends on us.

How do we pay for the roads, etc.?

A visitor recently sent me this:

While I’m disgusted by the polarity of our present choices, there are items listed on your site that seem extreme to me. However, lest I judge without knowledge, I thought I would ask about your party’s platform on the following listed items:

  • Abolish the income tax. Get rid of the I.R.S. No national sales tax. No flat-rate tax. No VAT. (So how would road repair etc… happen? I’m actually a Flat-tax proponent)
  • Get rid of Social Security. (How would this apply to those like me, who have already paid heavily into it, for most of our lives, when we hit 65?)
  • End government involvement in health care (is this to say that, we will abandon all compassion for even the legitimately poor? Shall we simply leave them to suffer?)

I don't pretend to be the one with all the answers, but here's how I personally would respond:

Letter-writing campaign

Let's make this happen in time to influence the 2012 presidential elections. The work starts now. Get everyone you know to write letters and send emails to the leaders and influential people within the three organizations. I encourage you to send snail mail, as it's too easy to delete and ignore email messages.

Attached is a document with letters I sent. If you use them, you will want to insert your name and address into the upper right hand corner and sign at the bottom. I encourage you to also rewrite them into your own words. Notice that I changed the wording slightly depending on the target.

There are hundreds of influential people in each organization. I selected a few at the top for the first round. I will probably send to different influential people in the next round.
